Toyota Lachine, located in Montreal near Laval and the South Shore, is proud to present a comparison between two vehicles in this segment: the 2021 Hyundai Venue and the 2021 Toyota C-HR. Continue reading to discover the advantages that the Toyota SUV enjoys over its rival!

General Information

On the market since 2016, the C-HR quickly earned a place in many garages thanks to its numerous on-board technologies as well as its bold and dynamic exterior. It was one of the first models in the subcompact SUV segment, and was soon followed by numerous rivals including the Venue, which launched in its 2020 model-year.

In terms of dimensions, the 2021 C-HR is longer and wider than its rival (4352 mm/1796 mm vs. 4040 mm/1796 mm, respectively) in addition to having a more generous wheelbase of 2642 mm vs. 2520 mm.

Exterior Features

The C-HR will not go unnoticed on the road thanks to its bold and muscular silhouette; depending on the model, it can be equipped with 17- or 18-inch wheels (compared to 15- or 17-inch wheels for the 2021 Venue), and LED taillights and fog lights, among other features. What’s more, you'll be able to choose from a selection of beautiful two-tone exterior colours.

Under the hood

Our Venue vs. C-HR comparison also shows that the Toyota SUV is more powerful than its rival. Under its hood is a 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine, good for 144-horsepower. It is paired to a powerful CVTi-S transmission and front-wheel drive. The Venue's 4-cylinder engine produces 121 horsepower and comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission. Both SUVs are only available with front-wheel drive.

The C-HR is an absolute pleasure to drive, and it is also remarkably fuel-efficient with city/highway ratings of only 8.7/7.5 L/100 km. Fuel efficient but exciting to drive, that could be the motto of the Toyota C-HR!

Interior Features

In keeping with its exterior, the 2021 C-HR boasts a modern and impressive interior. You are sure to love all the space inside, both for the passengers and their luggage. The 2021 C-HR offers more cargo space than the Hyundai Venue, with 541 L of cargo capacity behind the rear seat compared to 528 L for the Hyundai SUV. Folding the seats allows the C-HR to carry up to 1,031 L, enough for anything you need.

The C-HR also offers a number of additional features, depending on the version you choose. You can make it truly your own with features such as heated seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, Smart Key system and push-button ignition, to name a few. Also noteworthy is the optional heated steering wheel on the entry-level C-HR, a feature not offered on the entry-level Venue.

Technology is also a big part of the equation with many features such as Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, an 8-inch touchscreen, Sirius XM as well as a number of standard safety features such as pre-collision alert with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control, none of which are offered on the base version of the Hyundai SUV.

Automatic high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, park assist with braking and a rear-view camera are also be available on the C-HR, depending on the model chosen.

As you can see, the 2021 Toyota C-HR is head and shoulders above the 2021 Hyundai Venue, with advantages in many areas. To learn more about our comparison and the features of the 2021 C-HR, or to test drive it, stop by for a visit at Toyota Lachine today!
